Other facts

I love Tiverton. I grew up here, moved away to pursue school and experiences, and when the time was right, moved back here to raise my family. My wife, Sara, and I graduated from Tiverton High School together. We have many friends and family members here. We have roots in this community. My commitment to Tiverton is long-standing with current and past volunteer activities, including: > Cub Scouts Pack 10 (Tiverton/Little Compton) – Pack Committee Chair > Tiverton Little League – manager and coach > ecoRI.org Advisory Committee – member > Northeastern University Undergraduate Marketing Board – member > State of Rhode Island Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Program — Town of Tiverton volunteer coordinator > Tiverton Library Building Committee – advisor > Tiverton Recycling Committee – chair

James Arruda September 28, 2012 at 12:41 AM
Has my vote too!!

Okay all the curb guys weighted in , lets all go home now, Let them tweak the FTR so only the budget commitee can put forth a budget, it's Brian Medorios master plan anyway So guess what!! He doesn't have my vote, might be a good guy, but the folks behind him aren't good for this town
Renee Cwiek September 28, 2012 at 01:28 AM
He has my vote!!! James does too!
Jim L September 28, 2012 at 01:35 AM
Straight up I consider anyone from T1 /curb a threat to moving this town forward, as things move along we will learn who they are in bed with, of course I will now be attacked by the no names on here, proving who they stand with!
BD September 28, 2012 at 01:49 AM
I believe you Fake Jim but are you ever going to tell us why you aka Fred Floon think that it's OK to hold elective office if you are a non-resident/taxpayer? You never really publicly explained to position to your constituents.
Sara Gerlach September 28, 2012 at 02:12 AM
I think it would be great if the comments stayed on topic here and honestly everywhere else on Patch. It's unfortunate that Patch has just become an open forum for crazy talk. If you have questions for Bill, my suggestion would be to email him, check out his website all his contact information is there.

Let this be a lesson to all those that do not fear the demon rum!
Brian Medeiros September 28, 2012 at 04:21 AM
Sara: It's sad that this is the level some people operate on, especially on an article about a person who's stepped up to run for office to improve his community. The best approach is to completely ignore the crazy talk & stay focused on working together for a better Tiverton. Let's not be distracted by those looking to create distractions and animosity, or feed their obvious need for attention.

Mr. Gerlach, do you believe that following the will of the voters as demonstrated at the FTR/FTM is something that is optional based on your ideology as the current council believes? I'm thinking specifically making purchases the that voters have rejected such as the pump-out boat and sewer study which benefit very few of the taxpayers.
BD September 28, 2012 at 11:33 AM
That's pretty funny Fake Jim/Robbie. When the recommendations of extremist budget committee let by Caron/Coulter were routinely ignored by the voters you got out pretty quickly. Now that the current budget committee has brought some respect and integrity back to the budgeting process you seem a bit jealous.

Links above not working but I found info here: http://www.billgerlach.com/home/ Very informative. Lots of statements and positions. Looks like a great candidate for Tiverton council.

If the Guy doing the recycling on eagleville road, built his own off on ramp and think it would be good for the town, more tax revenue, I do think a large fence or wall like you see other places would be good
BristolRI02809 September 28, 2012 at 01:58 PM
Dim L-Could you please try re-posting the statement you just made, but this time try using proper english, grammar, and punctuation so that the readers might actually understand it. What you posted was one long, incoherent, run-on sentence which made absolutely no sense.

To mr. sousa, This was an article on bill gerlach and I find it both rude and disrespectful that you feel the need to make it an open forum about your political views. When they write an article about you, then you may force your views down the throats of all the readers here. Until then kindly read the article, leave a short comment either for or against it, then log out...without leaving a long trail of your rubbish spewed all across the comments section. Thank you!

To "david"-It should come to no surprise to you that Joe Sousa would take an article about a fine individual and candidate such as Bill Gerlach and start beating on his chest about his radical political views that would destroy the town if implemented. You must remember, Joe Sousa is a desperate individual with no educational and political qualifications whatsoever, and instead of wasting his time on a hopeless political campaign, should be focusing his efforts on trying to clean up his checkered past.

Says the man in the camo t-shirt with pork chop sideburns!
Lawton Ave. 1st October 02, 2012 at 02:24 AM
Mr. Sousa, as a candidate do you support the current council's policy of targeting municipal aid directed at improving the lives of the residents of and around Lawton Ave.? As you know, we have some big plans after the election. Street lanterns and banners (paid for by the town, of course) will let visitors know that they are approaching the most important street in town. Eventually, we plan on shutting off traffic (from the public) and relocating the Middle Avenue Gazebo to a more appropriate location on Lawton Ave. Eventually, it's my understanding the council plans to make it a gated community. Remember, if it's good for Lawton Ave., it's good for all of us.
Tivertontaxpayer1 October 02, 2012 at 11:31 AM
Mr. Sousa-Instead of attacking Bill Gerlach and any individual who disagrees with your radical political ideas that would destroy the town if implemented, why don't you focus your energy on something more productive, such as educating yourself or trying to clear up your "checkered" past. Tiverton needs individuals on the town council who will build consensus and bring the town together, not a hot head such as yourself who would rather drive a stake through the town and promote distrust and discontent.
