NWS Predicts 'Historic' Snowstorm Friday

The National Weather Service predicts one to two feet of snow could accumulate during Friday's storm.

 

The National Weather Service (NWS) is warning residents across the Northeast to prepare for a potentially historic blizzard.

Up to two feet of snow could accumulate during the storm that is expected to hit the Tiverton-Little Compton area on Friday morning. Light flurries will intensify into the night with snowfall accumulating at 2-3 inches per hour.

The NWS told residents to expect near blizzrd-like conditions with wind gusts in excess of 40 mph.

"Anyone traveling in the next 24 to 36 hours should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to modify travel plans should winter weather develop," reads the winter weather warning.
