Pies, Flowers, Turkey … What’s Available, When Do I Have To Order?

Thanksgiving is a week away. Several area shops can help take some of the work out of your day.

Thanksgiving is days away. If you're like me, your panic level is beginning to rise. But have no fear. There is plenty of help right here in East Greenwich.

Let's start with turkeys. Need a bird? For the first time (in recent history anyway), you can buy an East Greenwich pastured-raised bird at Pat's Pastured, the farming business at Boesch Farm on South Road. If you haven't reserved a bird, take your chances on Tuesday between 2 to 7 p.m., when turkeys are being picked up. There will be centerpieces, pies and vegetables for sale at the farm that day too. Check out the vendors here

At Dave's Marketplace, there are many different kinds of turkeys to choose from, including two "natural" varieties. You can have Dave's make it "oven ready" for you – cleaned, seasoned, and trayed. The sooner you place your order, the better chance you have of getting the size bird you want, according to Dave's.

SOLD OUT! Or you can buy the whole darn meal from Dave's: $99 for food enough for 8 to 10 people, including turkey, gravy, potatoes, stuffing, cranberry sauce, pie, and a side vegetable. You need to place that order by Saturday, Nov. 17. Check out their circular here.

Dave's is closed on Thanksgiving Day, so make sure you pick up whatever food you need before then! (Dave's is open Wednesday, Nov. 21, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.)

You can also order the entire meal from Wild Harvest – butternut and apple bisque;rosemary and garlic rubbed turkey w/gravy; farro, carmelized onion and wild mushroom stuffing; roasted Brussels sprouts w/panchetta; mashed potato casserole, cranberry sauce and dinner rolls – $350 for 10 servings. You can also buy individual servings of any of the above for $3 a piece.

Wild Harvest will be taking orders through Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. and they'll be open from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving for pickup.

For the vegetarian or gluten-free person in your life, check out the offerings at Back to Basics. In addition to the ever-popular tofurkey, as well as a selection of gluten-free pies.

And don't forget Greenwich Bay Gourmet. "We have an awesome menu at Greenwich Bay Gourmet," says owner Dana Wronski.

Next on the list, the centerpiece

East Greenwich happens to have great florists. At Busy Bee, centerpieces should be ordered by Tuesday for the best selection of flowers. They can probably make one up on Wednesday, but they recommend pre-ordering. Prices for a centerpiece start at $30, with or without candles.

At Sprigs, orders will be taken through Tuesday, with prices starting at $40 for centerpieces. Sprigs is also holding a pre-holiday open house Friday, Nov. 16, from 7 to 9 p.m.

At Indigo Path, Tuesday is also the preferred cutoff time for orders, but they will help you if you come in on Wednesday morning. They will work with customers to fit their budget.

Finally, dessert

Felicia's has loads of desserts, including pumpkin, pumpkin cream, apple, and chocolate cream pies (each 10 inches and $17). They have tarts as well (11 inches and $22), including cranberry-walnut crunch and French apple. They also have cheesecakes, including a pumpkin cheesecake ($29.95), biscotti and canolli. For a look at Felicia's flyer, click here. The coffee shop will be open Thanksgiving from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Wild Harvest is making pumpkin pies and apple pies (10 inches and $17). They will be taking orders through Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. and they'll be open from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thanksgiving.

Gregg's has a package for everything but the turkey. Or individual side orders. Has to be picked up by Wed. And pies, of course.

I called Dave's on Saturday to order and was told they sold out the $99 meal.
