Amy C. Lund, a Mill Pond handweaver, was recently recognized as crafting the "Best Handwoven Textiles" in Rhode Island Monthly's annual "Best of Rhode Island" competition.

Fashionable home decor meets functionality in Amy C. Lund's handwoven textile creations.

The combination of quality and beauty in the threads that this Tiverton-based handweaver creates recently earned her the title of "Best Handwoven Textiles" in Rhode Island Monthly's annual "Best of Rhode Island" competition

"I am always trying to strive for high quality, fine handcrafted products that are the best I can make and should last for a long time," said designer and artisan Amy C. Lund. "I am interested in design for artful living, so making something artistic and aesthetically pleasing, but also functional. It's where form and function meet."

Lund's studio in the Tiverton's Mill Pond plaza on Main Road doubles as a retail space for the handwoven accessories and home decor items that she crafts. Lund was recently recognized in House Beautiful magazine for her expertly designed table runners. Lund specializes in furnishing textiles like hand towels, chef's towels, potholders, placemats and linens. She creates custom rugs and her shop also features a line of her hand woven accessories:  scarves, mantelet capes and ponchos, to name a few.

Lund has been weaving in the Tiverton-Little Compton area for more than 12 years and this is her first time winning the Rhode Island Monthly designation.

Lund's shop is open on Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.
