Annual South Coast Artists Open Studio Tour

Discover the secrets behind the art this weekend, as south coast artists open their studios and share just how they create their one-of-a-kind artworks.

The following is an article written from a press release from the South Coast Artists.

Join your neighbors this weekend for the 9th annual South Coast Artists Open Studios Tour and relish the experience of meeting local artists in their natural environment.

The tour promises patrons a new view on the local community "as seen through the eyes of 73 exhibiting artists living and working in the coastal communities of Tiverton, Little Compton, Westport and Dartmouth," reads the event brochure. "This diverse group of artists will reveal the beauty up close or from above, interpreting the land, water, and abundant natural life that thrives along the South Coast."

Along the way you’ll discover artists working in such diverse mediums as oil, acrylic, watercolor, photography, sculpture, basketry, textiles, shells, ceramics, glass, wood, paper, jewelry and recycled materials. The self-guided tour will take you across small highways and rural byways of stunning natural beauty.

Follow the map and keep an eye out for the blue and white “Open Studio Tour” signs.  Many of the artists on the tour will be demonstrating just how they create their one-of-a-kind artworks

The Open Studios Tour provides locals with opportunities to view art made within the community; to interact with local artists; and to have access to artists’ creative working environments; encouraging greater appreciation and participation in the arts throughout the community. This exposure both educates the community and raises awareness of the diverse artistic experience available in the South Coast Region of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
