Which Rhode Island Community Got the Most Rain on the Fourth of July?

The heavy rains that fell on the Fourth of July are now a memory and Hurricane Arthur has moved on.

The heavy rain postponed fireworks celebrations and cancelled Fourth of July cookouts. But as we head back out into a sunny Saturday, let's look back to see communities were hit hardest.

Here is a sampling of rainfall totals from the National Weather Service:

  • Little Compton -- 4.4
  • Newport -- 3.25
  • Hopkinton -- 3.2
  • West Warwick -- 3.15
  • Narragansett -- 2.95
  • Richmond -- 2.86
  • Tiverton -- 2.8
  • Providence -- 2.43

Note: The National Weather Service did not include the information for every community, but provided the totals for some of the hardest hit areas.
