SOUND OFF: How Far Is Your Commute To Work?

How far is your commute to work. Twenty miles? Fifty? Tell us in the comment section below.

Nationally, the number of people traveling more than an hour to work rose to 11.1 million in 2012. That’s up 300,000 from 2011.

Which is bad news, because extensive travel times are linked to an increased risk of developing high blood sugar and cholesterol, depression, anxiety and a feeling of social isolation.

Newscruncher, a daily series that breaks down the characteristics of your town by the numbers, found Tiverton and Little Compton residents don't travel too far for work. Here's a map showing the farthest commuters in town:

Map: What Part of Town Has the Worst Commutes?

Regardless of the distance, commuters are mad. We asked Tiverton-Little Compton Patch users on Facebook the following questions:

How long is your commute? What do you hate most about your commute?

Here's what a few of them had to say:
Shannon Bennett The toll that's what I hate and my job makes me go over that damn bridge 8 to 10 times a day
Lisa Greene My commute is two minutes. However, my husband works in Warwick and everything about that commute stinks: the traffic, gas, the mileage on his car, etc.
Ben Robinson I commute to Tiverton. Drive through Aquidneck Island is the worst. But I really don't like the toll on the Sakonnet River Bridge
Dan Donovan 40 minutes, 27 miles. Braga bridge contact construction is the worst.

Rochelle LeBlanc Maccarone I commute to Middletown and I hate everything abiut the commute especially the toll and amount of gas and wear and tear on my car BLAHHH
