Rare Sighting of Beluga Whale in Local River

Zach Perrin posted a photo on June 21 of the creature in the Taunton River near Veterans Memorial Bridge.

"It was just something we had never seen before," Perrin told WHDH/7News. "It took a little while to believe our eyes what we were seeing."

Beluga whales, which are listed as a near-endangered species, typically live in Arctic waters.

The International Fund for Animal Welfare has been tracking the whale for the last few days, WHDH reported.
