East Providence head football coach Sandy Gorham is in the running for best high school football coach in the country. Gorham is one of eight coaches in Rhode Island to be nominated in a contest sponsored by USA Today High School Sports.

Cafe Wall Torn Down After Collapse Scare

Broadway in Newport was closed Tuesday due to fears of a potential buidling collapse. Most of the building remained in the end, but a wall at Salvation Cafe was torn down.


800 Navy Employees Sent Home Tuesday 

About 800 Naval Station Newport civilian employees deemed non-essential to emergency/life support operations are being sent home today as a result of the government shutdown.

Prison Guard Faces Drug Charges

A Correctional Officer on leave from his job at the Adult Correctional Institutions since June has been charged with three counts of delivery of a controlled substance to a police officer, the State Police announced Thursday.

A Roger Williams University professor said she feels personally attacked by Barrington Town Manager Peter DeAngelis Jr., after he reportedly complained to the university president about Professor Lynn Ruggieri's study finding trash privatization has actually cost Barrington residents money.


Car Crashes Into Portsmouth Business

A vehicle slammed into Lou Lou' Decor store Friday at just around 11:15 a.m. An employee was inside, but no injuries are reported.
