Paver Contest Launched for new Tiverton Library

“What book inspired you – and why?”  Students from Grades 1 to 12 who live in Tiverton can enter the contest by answering this question in about 250 - 750 words.  Students do not need to attend Tiverton schools.  One winner per grade level will be honored with a set of four brick pavers, engraved with the student’s name, favorite book, its author, and a quote from the student’s essay.  The deadline is June 1 and winners will be announced on June 10.  The pavers will be installed on the second terrace called the Sunset Literary Terrace.

Entries should include the student’s name, grade, school, email address and phone number, and be sent to stuart@bookarchitrecture.com or to Essay Contest, c/o 128 Abel Hart Lane, Tiverton, RI 02878.  The contest is sponsored by the Tiverton Library Foundation and judged by an independent panel.

Each winning student will have the opportunity to work with professional author and writing coach Stuart Horwitz in choosing a quote from their essay.  Stuart’s recent book, Blueprint Your Bestseller: Organize and Revise any Manuscript with The Book Architecture Method (Penguin/Perigee), was named one of 2013’s best books about writing by The Writer magazine, and is one of Amazon’s best sellers on writing.  He is also an award-winning essayist and poet who has taught writing at Grub Street of Boston and Brown University. Although he has helped writers become authors signed by top literary agencies, he also loves to talk with children and teens about their best loved books.
