Library "Topping Off" Ceremony

The Trustees of Tiverton Library Services will celebrate a major milestone in the $10.3 million construction of the new public library with a "topping off" ceremony on Monday, May 19 at 2:30 p.m.  With the shift to good weather the schedule has jumped ahead, so with short notice, the public is invited to join in next Monday’s celebration.

Topping off is a tradition in the construction industry when the last beam is placed atop a new structure.  Placement of this beam marks the end of the steel construction of the facility.  With that complete, the next steps will be pouring the slab floor for the building, and then erecting the walls and roof.

The new Tiverton Public Library is scheduled to open in the Spring of 2015.  The 23,772 square foot building will provide many new opportunities for people of all ages in Tiverton and surrounding communities.
