Historic Little Compton inn set for foreclosure auction Friday; tax bills mailed to former 38 Studios exec

A former director of 38 Studios, LLC, was listed in 2011 state records as the “authorized person” for Stone House LLC, the corporate owner of the Stone House in Little Compton, which is scheduled for a foreclosure auction Friday morning.

Thomas J. Zaccagnino, a former vice chairman and lead director at 38 Studios, could not be reached for comment about his connection with the Stone House, an historic property that was restored and reopened in 2009 as a luxury inn by Little Compton residents Zachary Miller and Craig Pishotti.

According to records at Little Compton Town Hall, tax bills owed by Stone House LLC have been mailed to 12 Clock Tower Place, Suite 200, in Maynard, Mass. This is the address of Wellesley Advisors Corp., where Zaccagnino formerly served as co-managing director; a woman who answered the telephone there Tuesday said Zaccagnino has not worked for the company for several years.

The Little Compton inn, which includes two restaurants and a spa, 13 guest rooms in the c. 1854 Stone House, and extra suites in the c. 1870 wood barn on the site, was photographed for Grace Ormonde Wedding Style in 2010. A television show, Renovation Nation, documented Miller and Pishotti’s meticulous “green” restoration of the building. Room rates ranged from $400 to $1,000 a night.

Miller and Pishotti, partners in Goosewing Hotels & Resorts, who bought the landmark building in late 2007 for $5.4 million, could not immediately be reached for comment.

The property has been listed for sale since January with Chan Lyell and David Huberman of Gustave White Sotheby’s International Realty of Newport, with an asking price of $6.9 million.

A $300,000 “composite” deposit is required to bid for the inn, located at 122 Sakonnet Point Road. The public auction is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on the premises.
