Free Beekeeping Program Monday July 28 6:30pm

Tiverton Library Services brings back Sanne Kure-Jenson to offer a presentation on beekeeping at Sandywoods Center for the Arts July 28th at 6:30 pm. Backyard beekeeping continues to grow in popularity. See the essential equipment: woodenware, bee-suits and smokers. Hear why bees swarm and how to collect them. Learn how to install bees in a hive, which pests and diseases to watch for and how to collect honey. Organic practices in gardens and lawns benefit honey bees and native pollinators. Discover how many other products are made with help from beeswax, honey or propolis.

Sanne Kure-Jensen is an organic grower, beekeeper and horticultural writer in Portsmouth, RI where she has been promoting pollinator-friendly growing for many years. She is a regular contributor to “Country Folks Grower.” Sanne offers workshops on beekeeping, pollinators, ecological landscaping and home brewing. She also manages educational programs and outreach for the Northeast Organic Farming Association of Rhode Island (NOFA/RI).

All those in attendance will entered in a drawing just for participating in summer reading. Free and open to the public. Reservations recommended. Participation in summer reading program is not required to attend. Call 401-625-6796 to save a spot.
