More About Stone House
The Stone House was constructed as a private residence by a merchant and mill owner in 1854. Even then the house, with its 2 foot-thick stone walls, more like a fort, built to weather anything nature might throw at it. In the 1920s and '30s the house became an Inn.
The Stone House has recently undergone major renovations and, although historically restored to its original splendor, all of the modern amenities are now part of this beautiful and grand estate. The Stone House is not only a place to stay, but is a place to enjoy fine dining and be pampered in its spa.
Ten beautifully appointed guest suites are located in the Stone House property, while further suites available in the Wood Barn. The Barn was constructed in 1870 to shelter animals on the estate, but today it is home to 3 guest suites that you can own as part of an estate membership offer. Enjoy your own private suite at any time of your choosing.
Petra is the on-site restaurant, where diners enjoy Chef Paul Jonathan Wade's creative dishes. Petra is open seasonally and closes in early September, reopening in May. 1854 is the other dining option at the Stone House. Formerly known as The Tap Room, the warm atmosphere and great menu have made it a local favorite. Open on Fridays and Saturdays from 3 PM – 9 PM, and on Sunday from 1:30 PM to 7:30 PM, it is a great place to come and have dinner in a rustic setting.
Guests can also enjoy the tranquility and fine services offered in the spa. Host your wedding or private event here, and include spa services as part of your luxurious stay.
