This is great news. We're light years behind towns like Bristol, in terms of activities like these that will foster a sense of pride in our town, by focusing on the positive attributes of the many wonderful people and places that make up our community. Who knows? Over time a sense of camaraderie might develop. Defenses might come down. Our children (and their parents) might once again be proud to say they hail from Tiverton.

Bipartisan support of Celebrate Tiverton activities would be a start. As long as the doom-and-gloomers can stay home! "A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Helping with the dire economic situation many small businesses experience in town is reason enough to encourage events that bring in tourists.

Very excited to see an event that celebrates the town's waterfront, history, culture and people. Glad to see it's not restricted to one day or one location -- true community event!

Is anyone going to read the Declaration of Independence, hand out free hot dogs and talk about saving taxes by closing schools and selling our land to campaign contributors? If not, count me out!

Joe Sousa and RI Teabagger- please respect this is for a very positive event in town-to celebrate everyone-and to Celebrate Tiverton. If you could keep you negative comments to each other limited to other sections of the Patch-many would appreciate it-thanks.

In an effort to extend an olive branch between our two groups I'd like to offer you a performance of the Tiverton (Taxpayers) Village People at your fundraiser. Our performers are good people, most of whom you are familiar with:

Cowboy Guy: Jim
Police Guy: Joe
Construction/Hardhat Guy: Justin
Navy Guy: Robbie

Normally we have too many volunteers for Leather Guy, but no one wants to wear the outfit outside of Nanaquaket, sorry.
Because of the legal issues regarding the botched sale of the Nonquit property we cannot dress the Indian Guy for this performance.

Please remember to bring used clothing for the public school children for our clothing drive. We Care. We really do.
