Mardi Gras Party

Amicable Congregational Church, 3736 Main Rd, Tiverton, RI | Get Directions »
$10.00

This is a twist on traditional Mardi Gras parties: spicy food, Dixieland music and games without the “drunkenness and debauchery” associated with the New Orleans celebration. In short, it is a family-friendly Mardi Gras.

True to the Cajun and Creole influences of “The Big Easy,” the party will feature a food court with dishes including: Jambalaya, blackened chicken, and dirty rice. (There will also be kid-friendly food for those who are younger or less adventuresome eaters.) For dessert, partygoers will be treated to the traditional “King Cake.”  Beverages will include non-alcoholic versions of traditional New Orleans drinks.

Jean Galipeau, a professional deejay, will create a backdrop of Dixieland music for games and contests that offer prizes to the winners. Those with an artistic bent can create feathered, bedazzled masquerade masks. Brightly colored strings of beads, a traditional part of Mardi Gras parades, can be accumulated during a contest that will be ongoing throughout the evening.

Tickets for the event can be reserved in advance (recommended) by calling Amicable Congregational Church at (401) 624-4611 or purchased at the door. Admission of $10 for adults, $8 for teens and $6 for kids 12 and under, will purchase tickets redeemable at the food court and activity booths.
