On Sunday, President Obama and Congressional leaders from both parties agreed to a deal to end the debt ceiling debate. According to the Washington Post, the deal will allow the debt ceiling to be raised by as much as $2.4 trillion, an amount that will cover spending until at least after the 2012 election and will allow Obama to avoid another debate during this term. The deal includes spending cuts, a key objective of the Republicans, but no new taxes, another sticking point for conservatives during the debate.
