Harry, have you read his new book? He is a local guy who has a great story to tell about the dangers of drugs and alcohol and how they can ruin your career/life. This is something we should be making the children of this town go to. With the amount of young idiots filling up the police log these days it looks like Tiverton's youth could take away a lot from Chris' story. We should be worrying less about what he is being paid and more about what we can learn from his story.

This is totally ridiculous, whats he gonna say "dont drink an eggnog then shoot up" or " dont use he 20 bucks aunt Judy gave you to buy a bag" Parenting and common sense people...we dont need $Herren$ to tell us, at least we shouldnt.

You're right, we shouldn't....but by the looks of things parents are failing miserably around here. How about the dumbass from East Providence who decides to tie one on and then go for a drive with her 2 young children at 2 am??

So are you against having public speakers in general or is it that you just don't want it to be Chris Herren??

Chris came from a very good family and still found his way to drugs. Kids need to hear what it was that drove him to drugs and as a parent that has never been addicted to drugs, I should hear it too. The fact that Chris grew up locally and his family is still here could really resonate with some kids who are heading down the same path he did. Because Chris has turned his life around his story can be a great tool for preventing drug abuse. @Harry instead of Chris Herren maybe Scott Hall…His last visit here could also be used as a prevention tool but I'm sure he would be far more expensive!

Chris came from an excellent family and made horrible choices, lived through it and has a hell of a story to tell. That being said, Tiverton has a huge drug problem right now. Think about all the home break in's, car breaks, etc. Why do you think these things are happening? Kids (yes, kids, some as young as 14!) need the money to support their percocet and (if not yet, soon to be) heroin habits. This is a much needed talk in our town, and I'm glad they're finally having it. It should have been done a long time ago, and they should keep 'em coming!
