How Much Fat Are You Burning On The Cardio Machine?
If you stay in the fat burning zone, you will burn a higher PERCENTAGE of calories from fat than you would if you worked out more intensely. But if you move out of the fat burning zone and workout more intensely, you will burn less percentage but will burn more CALORIES.
Do the math. If you want to burn the most fat, workout more intensely... outside of the fat burning zone. Otherwise, stay within the fat-burning zone, but just workout a bit longer.
Always check with your physician before beginning any exercise program.

not knowing your medical history, 45 carbs is a very good goal; however there is more too it than that. The glucose/fructose you consume, without realizing it, is the number one key to weight loss!

You need to track your sugar, not just your carbs. Are you familiar with some of the apps that are out there to help?

Ok, I'll take the bait: What is "the fat burning zone"? Please define.
It the FBZ a readout on a cardio machine from a specific manufacturer? Or is the FBZ common to all cardio machines? Or is it something else?
If a physical fitness luddite such as myself gets exercise from riding a bicycle 20 miles, how exactly do I keep myself "the fat burning zone" while riding? Ride real fast when I go by Del's?
Or is "the fat burning zone" referring to those nasty stretches of the bike path in Warren and Barrington where all the tree roots push up through the asphalt? I had always referred to those in my mind as the "Ouch, this hurts my friggin' butt" zones, but perhaps I'm not hip enough when it comes to deciphering the patois of the Certified Personal Trainer...

Glad to know I'm not the only one getting the brunt of the roots on that part of the bike patch.... not pleasant for us rollerbladers
The FBZ refers to a percentage of your maximum heart rate which you calculate by factoring in your age and your exercise intensity (60-70 percent of your maximum)
Your maximum is figured by a formula (shortened version is 220-age) You would check it from time with a heart rate monitor
