Dropkick Murphys to Perform in Newport

Tickets go on sale Friday, May 3

  The Dropkick Murphys are headed to rock Newport. The popular Celtic punk band will headline the 2nd Annual Newport Celtic Rock Festival along with Eileen Ivers, The Town Pants, Screaming Orphans and Celtica-Pipes Rock! on Saturday, August 24 from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.  The general admission tickets are available for purchase this Friday, May 3rd at 12:00 noon at a “Savin’ O’ the Green” Discount of $15 while tickets last. Once the discount sells out, the advance ticket price is $35.50 through August 23rd and then will be $45.50 the day-of the event. Most know him as Ron Swanson from NBC’s Parks and Recreation and most know her as Karen Walker from the hit TV sitcom Will and Grace. Together they are the husband and wife team of Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally and will make their Rhode Island debut on August 30th at the Mattie Volkswagen Audi 13th annual Newport Summer Comedy Series at the Newport Yachting Center. Michael, the Sandywoods market will continue through the summer and into the fall. Our last winter (indoor) market will be Thursday, May 16th. After that, we'll be moving outside. 'Portuguese Kids' To Perform Comedy Bit at THS Thursday

Four local comedians of Portuguese descent will perform on Thursday for Tiverton High School Students.

  Tiverton High School students will get a chance to see the funnier side of growing of Portuguese on Thursday when the comedy troupe The Portuguese Kids performs at the school. Four comedians from southeastern Massachusetts take ethnic comedy to new heights with live performances across the country. Utilizing sketch comedy, music and improv, Derrick DeMelo, Jason Casimiro, Brian Martins and Al Sardinha - better known as the Portuguese Kids - poke fun at their ethnic heritage using comedy and entertainment to build camaraderie and culture in Portuguese-American and Portuguese-Canadian communities.
