Where Are Tiverton and Little Compton's Most Ignored Stop Signs?

Stop signs are not optional, but they're sometimes treated as if they are.

There are hundreds of stop signs throughout Tiverton and Little Compton, but all too often, they are overlooked when drivers are in a rush.

We have all seen it and probably many would admit to rolling through a stop sign at one point in time.

Do you know of a location where a stop sign is frequently rolled through or ignored?

Share where it is in the comments section below.

I'm not sure about the stop signs, but I'm having an awful problem with that light on Fish Road now.

Speaking of signs, I could not believe my eyes when I saw a compain sign for Mchugh running for Little Compton's Treasurer. How can someone who, being VP of Little League and having thousands of dollars to be stolen over a period of time greater than a year and he not have a clue about it, run for town Treasurer. SERIOUSLY . IS THIS SOME KIND OF JOKE

HIghland Road at Middle Ave. Right in front of Essex Library with kids, people walking, etc. Haven't seen a cop in the area in MONTHS! And all of Highland Rd. is posted at 25MPH. 40 seems to be the average speed now. Haven't seen a cop in the area in MONTHS!

the cops are around there all the time, but they dont stop anyone. That stop sign is "California roll" stop sign. It was only really put there to try and slow traffic anyway, if what my neighbors say can be believed.

Have to agree with Warren Ave at Primrose. The police have been notified of it several times and the response of the police chief is: "we can't just patrol one area"!? Really? The town was put on notice that if someone gets hurt or killed at that intersection, they will hear about it! We are talking cars that do not even slow down let alone "roll" or "stop".

Yes Jim. I've had to stop short quite a few times. It's just a habit I guess.

Why pick on stop signs???
People drive like idiots.
Making right exits from the left lane. No blinkers ever or if they use them they turn them on after they changed lanes already which is too late.
And where are the cops?
In the cell talking to their girlfriends

Coming off of Colebrook Rd on to Long Highway. Another pet peeve is: How difficult is it to use one finger to turn on your directional light especially when you see a line of cars waiting to cross to any intersectionDEJBT

I agree about the stop light on fish road Im so used to it blinking yellow so when I see yellow I sometimes still go.. Not only stop signs but I live on a dead end street where there are a lot of kids and people just fly down the street, I've called the police station and they don't do anything it's so rediculous the way tiverton is now. It was never like this when I was a kid

Little Compton, Willow Avenue at Simmons Road. Drivers head south toward Commons often blow right thru that Stop Sign; never assume that they're going to stop or you'll be the one getting hit!

The red light on Fish rd. is a JOKE!!! It probably cost 200k to install, and it was used for only a few months. It caused more accidents then it prevented. If the DOT takes it down now it's not needed anymore, it will cost another 100k? Oh yha, and the stop signs. What stop signs? I didn't know there were any in Tiverton and Little Compton. I never see anyone stop

I believe there's a stop sign on the side of Little Bear and people VERY RARELY stop there. Stop means stop the vehicle, not yield... People do that everywhere! Somebody else commented on blinkers and such, you are absolutely right! I don't know if I see the Police use theirs, but I do know I've seen them on their phones :( Is it just in Mass. or is it illegal to talk while driving here too?? Nobody gets stopped for talking so maybe it's not in RI too :( OH, one more thing while I'm on a rant, people that pull out in front of you then go slower than the limit! Gotta love that one too. OK, done now...sorry...

The stop light on Fish road will stay, If tolls come to this town that road will become a major shortcut for hundreds of cars, It's bad enough now going from Fish Rd to turn left on Bulgarsrmarsh, nightmare coming up didn't mean to go from stop signs to tolls but it's the truth

I think the stop sign at the end of Peckham/long highway is a major issue. If you do stop you better watch the car or truck behind you who thinks its a good idea to use the little cut through to long highway south to avoid the sign alltogether! Another spot that I've come really close to being in an accident it the stop sign right near the town hall! If there are cars parked across the street from the library forget it! You cannot see anything coming from the Wilbur's store direction. How nobody has gotten hurt there is a miracle. My thought to fix that is too maybe not allow parking across the street from the library, at least for twenty to twenty five feet from the intersection. And maybe speak with the church about allowing library parking in there lot.

The Little Compton police could pay the salary of at least one officer handing out tickets to every car that does`nt stop at the intersection of Peckham rd and east main rd. 8 out of 10 dont stop.
