UPDATE: Road Cleared After Two Injured In Bulgarmarsh Road Crash

Part of Bulgarmarsh Road was closed to traffic for about an hour this afternoon after a car struck a utility pole, injuring two people and obstructing the roadway.

Bulgarmarsh Road is reopened after two people were injured when their car struck a utility pole and closed the road to all traffic this afternoon.

According to Tiverton Fire Chief Robert Lloyd the car rolled over at least once after striking the utility pole at the intersection around 3:30 p.m. The two injured passengers were transported to a local hospital. The pole snapped, blocking the road and took the Tiverton Fire Department about an hour to clear off of the roadway.

When Tiverton-Little Compton Patch arrived on scene at 4:15 p.m., a tow truck was clearing the sedan from the raodway.

"The road should be passable in 10 to 15 more minutes," said Lloyd. The roadway was cleared by 4:45 p.m.

Poll volunteers at the Ranger Elementary School, the high school and at Sandywoods Farm precints reported voters were diverted and advised to seek alternate routes as a result of the crash.
