Tiverton's Local Legislators To Speak At Tonight's Town Council Meeting

The Tiverton Town Council will hear from its local delegation during tonight's meeting which starts at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall.

Tonight the Tiverton Town Council will hear from its local representatives and senators, hoping to gain an understanding for what's in store this year in the state General Assembly.

Each of the town's local legislators were invited to participate in the legislative update tonight: Sen. Walter S. Felag, Jr., Sen. Louis P. DiPalma, Sen, Christopher S. Ottiano, Rep. John G. Edwards and Rep. Dennis Canario.

Edwards (D – Dist. 70,  Portsmouth, Tiverton) and Felag Jr. and DiPalma already submitted a bill to block the placement of tolls on the Sakonnet River Bridge this summer, a hot button issue in Tiverton.

Freshman Rep. Canario was appointed to serve on the House Committee on Health, Education and Welfare and the House Committee on Small Business.

The council will also hear an update on the library building project and entertain a public hearing on the Pay As You Throw Waste Collection Program regulations and procedures.

Tonight's Tiverton Town Council meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall, 343 Highland Road.
