Tiverton and Little Compton Schools Closed On Monday

Citing widespread power outages, the Wilbur-McMahon School in Little Compton and all Tiverton public schools will remain closed on Monday.

Both Tiverton and Little Compton Schools will remain closed tomorrow, Monday, Feb. 11 due to widespread power outages and continuing snow removal after Nemo Blizzard.

Portsmouth High School students will still be bused into school in the morning as Portsmouth has not yet canceled school.

As of 7 p.m. on Sunday, 82 percent of Little Compton residents and 1,424 Tiverton customers are still without power, according to National Grid.

The blizzard left all of Newport County in the dark on Friday night after nearly two feet of snow dumped on the region, causing massive damage to National Grid's electrical system in southeastern Massachusetts. Transmission wires from that area feeds the Tiverton and Little Compton's electrical lines.

More than 2,000 crews throughout Rhode Island and Massachusetts have already restored power to more than 150,000 affected customers.

Just got power back about an hour ago. 38 1/2 hours without power is NO FUN!
