Three Parking Sites Set Up for Beisel Homecoming

Fans from all over the state are expected to attend Wednesday night's homecoming for Rhode Island Olympian Elizabeth Beisel.

Rhode Island is ready to welcome home its Olympic swimmer Elizabeth Beisel Wednesday evening at a special homecoming event at North Kingstown High School.

In anticipation of a large crowd, event organizers plan to open three satellite parking sites nearby at Wilson Park (201 W. Main Street, North Kingstown), Wickford Middle School (250 Tower Hill Rd., North Kingstown) and Wickford Elementary School (99 Philips St., North Kingstown). The sites will open at 6 p.m. and buses will shuttle event goers to the high school's athletic complex (where the event is to be held) every 10 minutes. Parking is also available at the high school (150 Fairway Drive, North Kingstown) and the adjacent school administrative offices (100 Fairway Drive).

Lt. Gov. Elizabeth Roberts along with state and local delegates are expected to attend tonight's event, which starts at 7 p.m. Those planning to attend the event are encouraged to wear their Team Beisel T-shirts and to bring signs. The event is sponsored by WJAR-TV (Channel 10).

Beisel, a 2010 graduate of North Kingstown High School, is returning home to Rhode Island after competing in her second Olympics at the age of 19. During the 2008 Olympics, she was the youngest member of the US Swim Team at 15 years old.

Beisel is coming home with two medals – a silver medal in the 400-meter individual medley and a bronze medal in the 200-meter backstroke.
