State Police End Probe Into Craig Raposa's Death
Craig Raposa, 25, died following a struggle with Portsmouth police.
State Police have completed their investigation into the death of Tiverton resident Craig Raposa, reports WPRI.com.
State Police have given their final report to the Attorney General's Office, but the findings are not being released at this time, according to the article.
Raposa, 25, a Portsmouth native and graduate of Portsmouth High School, died on Feb. 3 of unknown causes following a struggle with Portsmouth police, in which pepper spray was used.
Portsmouth police said Raposa had a history of mental illness; however, his mother blamed authorities for her son's death. Raposa's mother said her son was bipolar.
The incident now remains under the investigation of the Attorney General's Office.

The people and family have a right to know what happened. Typical police hiding all of the facts from the people. Murderers!!!!

Till all the facts are in and the investigation results released it's better to keep ones mouth shut as one may wind up putting ones foot in their mouth.

While I agree the people and especially the family have a right to konw what happened, I also believe it would be irresponsible for an official disclosure until the investigation is complete and conclusions are made by the attorney general's office. Don't forget that our police department put their lives on the line for us every day. It sounds to me like this is most likely an accidental tragedy that the family, friends AND the officer(s) involved will have to deal with emotionally.

The family and public do need to know and I am sure all facts and events will be released once the attorney general's office has completed the investigation. To release the state police findings when only half the investigation is completed does no one any good.

I'm sure the Attorney Generals Office will contact the family at the very least and give them some closure on this tragedy.

I think everyone needs to mind there own buisness. We have a wonderful police force here in Portsmouth. Anyone who says otherwise prob in one way or another has broken a law so obv you have something bad to say about them. THey keep all of us safe and our town quiet and calm. We could be like Prov or Central Falls but we are not. We live in a safe town and alot of that is thanks to thw PPD. LOet them do their jobs!

Concerned it is obvious you have never had to deal with the PPD and I am not talking as a criminal but as a victem of a crime. The PPD detective was very rude and you could tell he was upset about having been called in to work. I totaly inconvenienced him by having the nerve to be held up by an armed robber and he made that more then clear. In the end nothing was done. If you are ever the victom of a crime in Portsmouth make sure it is during normal working hours.

People seem to forget that the Portsmouth police have had a multitude of charges brought against them including stealing firearms from an evidence locker following the shooting of a minor, and we should mind our on business? Portsmouth residents are dinner than ever.... These are the same people who have 1 of only 2 public A class schools in the whole state, just built a 4 million dollar gym for their high school and have the nerve to put bumper stickers on their cars that say "save our schools". Dumber than ever....

The Shill- Yes I have dealt with them many times and I was nothing but happy. they just have no tolerance for stupidity and rudeness in this town. There is not one bad cop in Portsmouth. Esp the detectives. Go to Central Falls and see how you feel there.
