State Police Arrest Subject for 4TH DUI Offense in Tiverton

Wakefield resident arrested early Wednesday morning on route 24 for fourth DUI offense, suspended license.

Rhode Island State Police from the Wickford Barracks arrested a Wakefield man early Wednesday morning for Driving Under the Influence of an intoxicating liquor or drugs.

Forty-two-year-old David M. Cihat of 142 Whitford Street in Wakefield was arrested after the vehicle he was driving was stopped for several motor vehicle violations on route 24 North in Tiverton at 1:42 a.m, on July 4th.  According to State Police, once at the Wickford barracks, Chihat refused to submit to a chemical breath test. 

Cihat was held overnight at the barracks, appeared before a Justice of the peace in the morning and was charged with driving under the influence, fourth offense and operating on a suspended license. He was presented as a bail violator by a member of the Attorney General’s office and held at the ACI on $25,000 bail.

Cihat was scheduled to be formally arraigned on the charges in Second Division Court Thursday, July 5th.
