"The homeowner then called her grandson and confirmed he was not in fact in Mexico. The phone call reportedly came from a blocked number."

--- which is usually the case with scam calls. This is the famous Grandson Scam and it's been in the news pretty much lately. However, though we think it's obvious and that nobody else can fall to this scam anymore, there are still a few who do and lose a lot of money. In fact, some of them reported the phone calls at Callercenter.com.

I think it's about time people become more cautious about incoming phone calls, especially when the caller starts asking for personal information. Skepticism is healthy at times like this. And vigilance keeps the scammers at bay.
