Rep. Gordon's 2008 Massachusetts Charges Dismissed in Court

Gordon paid $1,000 in court costs.

The five charges against Rep. Dan Gordon (R-Portsmouth, Tiverton and Little Compton), stemming from a 2008 car chase through Fall River into Somerset, were dismissed in Fall River District Court on Monday.

According to documents filed at the clerk's office, Gordon, 42, of 35 Alan Ave., Portsmouth, agreed to pay $1,000 on the charge of failure to stop for police, among four other motor vehicle charges.

He was arrested by state police last month in Rhode Island for a suspended license charge, at which point police learned he was wanted as a fugitive in Massachusetts for failure to appear on an outstanding 2008 court warrant. After spending a weekend in the Adult Correctional Institution and waiving extradition in Providence District Court, he appeared in court in Fall River and was released on bail on Sept. 19.

His Rhode Island charge was dismissed earlier this month.

According to court documents in Fall River, Gordon claimed responsibility for the 2008 charges of making lane violations and operating an unregistered motor vehicle. He will be paying additional probation fees for the charges of a license plate violation and operating a motor vehicle on a suspended license. He will return in October 2012 for a status hearing on those two charges.

Gordon initially represented himself in court Monday morning, but Attorney James McCarthy stepped in pro bono, according to the court clerk. Attorney Patrick Driscoll representated the state of Massachusetts and the Judge Thomas Barrett presided over today's hearing.

Well the cat is out of the bag now. If he get re-elected the people get what they deserve. A dishonest, self-indulgent, and egotistical man who will only seek to represent himself.

Concur. If fact…in this state that probably bolsters his chances of reelection. But please, go away Gordon.

Just remember, Dave Nelson, Rob Coulter, Jeff Caron and the rest of the TCC supported this liar and fraud. So did Larry Fitzmorris and the rest of the PCC in Portsmouth and they have not had the political fortitude to denounce him yet. Surprisingly, neither has any group from Little Compton.
This clown needs to step down now so his district can get a real legislator in there at least for the rest of the term otherwise, they will end up with Mr. No-Show!!!!
