Fall River Woman Arrested After Allegedly Striking Woman Repeatedly At Grinnell's Beach

The following arrest information was supplied by the Tiverton Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Fall River woman was arrested by Tiverton Police on Memorial Day after allegedly assaulting another woman at Grinnell’s Beach.

Yanelly Lorenzi, 36, of 25 Pleasant View Ave., Apt. C, Fall River, was arrested at 7:53 p.m. on Monday, May 30, at Main Road near the Rt. 24 North on-ramp. Lorenzi was charged with simple assault or battery and disorderly conduct.

According to Tiverton Sgt. James Costa, officers responded to Grinnell’s Beach for a report of an assault called in by 911. Upon getting there, a female victim stated there was a group of people standing around and yelling profanities. Costa said the victim approached the group asking them to not use that type of language in a public area.

“The suspect continued to yell and swear,” Costa said. “Again, the victim told her it was inappropriate language.”

At that point, Lorenzi allegedly struck the victim several times in the face. Costa said the group Lorenzi was with allegedly tried to block the license plate of their vehicle as they were leaving.

As officers were investigating the assault, Costa said the vehicle’s description was put, and it was stopped just entering the Route 24 northbound on ramp on Main Road.

Costa added that witnesses on scene confirmed the victim’s statements.

It seems the only reason people come to Tiverton from Fall River is to commit crimes.

Perhaps the town should put up a visitors center for the criminals in order to welcome them to our community. Sorry to be negative but "a place to commit crimes" is our only economic development going on. Our planner gets a pay check each week by doing close to nothing. Now there is another crime!!!
