Weather: Today will be mostly clear with a high temperature in the mid-70s. According to the National Weather Service, the skies will remain clear throughout the night.
1. Temperatures are dropping and summer seems to be winding down, but that doesn't mean summer's critters are. A Newport County resident was diagnosed with West Nile Fever, the state Department of Health reported yesterday. Massachusetts officials recently reported that a man from nearby Worcester, MA died from the same disease.

2. The Little Compton Harbor Commission will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Town Hall, 40 Commons.
3. The Tiverton Cemetery Commission will meet tonight at 7 p.m. at the Community Center, 346 Judson St.

5. On this day in 1953, Massachusetts Senator John F. Kennedy, the future 35th president of the United States, marries Jacqueline Bouvier at St. Mary's Church in Newport, Rhode Island. Seven years later, the couple would become the youngest president and first lady in American history.
