Boys Found With Replica Guns Near Pocasset School
The following arrests were supplied by the Tiverton Police Department. They do not indicate a conviction.
Tiverton police charged two 12-year-old Tiverton boys with one count of felony firearms possession Friday afternoon. One was arrested at 5:18 p.m. and the other at 6:39 p.m.
Police received a report that afternoon of a boy walking on Main Road near Pocasset School with a firearm, according to Lt. Patrick Jones. Officers arrived on scene and found three boys in possession of a replica .357 or .44 magnum revolver, which turned out to be an air soft gun owned by one of the boys.
Jones said one of the youths hid the replica in a shrub. Police also recovered a rifle with a scope on it, which was also a replica owned by another youth.
The two who owned the guns were transported back to the police station, released to their parents and the matter was referred to the juvenile hearing board.

there has to be more to this story. AirSoft bb guns are legal and are not "firearms", you do not need a license to own or purchase them. If they were actually shooting them at people or cars, that would be a different story, assault would apply then. However, if they removed the orange cap, they may have violated a statute.

why is there so much craziness in this state about kids being kids playing with paint ball guns ,airsoft guns, these are not FIREARMS.IS THERE MORE TO THIS STORY other than costing parents a ton of money for BS and putting kids in a court room that shouldn't be there and wasting the courts time?

Cops are anti-gun. They'll charge you for a squirt gun so be careful.
If found guilty for the felony firearms possession, they will never be able to buy or own a firearm ever in their life. Its a form of gun control. They can't take all the guns away. But, if they make everybody a felon, then nobody can own or buy them.
