The 6th graders from Tiverton Middle School recently enjoyed a presentation of "The Rock Cycle" by Nancy Swing, owner of Natures! Rock Shop in Tiverton.  Explanations of igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic rock were provided and several displays of specimens were presented.  Mrs. Swing, a former professional miner, also shared her experiences of mining for Herkimer diamonds (quartz crystals) in New York.  Her expertise in the field of geology enhanced the students' current study of geological processes in their 6th grade science classes. The students and faculty wish to thank the TMS Parent Teacher Committee for the funding for this presentation.
