In February 2011, the thirteen founding members of the nonprofit Sandywoods Farm Gallery Cooperative in Tiverton, RI came together to pursue some rather ambitious goals: (a) exhibiting the work of co-op members and other visual artists; (b) providing the general public with cultural and educational opportunities related to the visual arts; (c) advancing the artistic interests and careers of co-op members; and (d) operating a first-class visual arts gallery in Tiverton.
With much hard work and tireless dedication, the founders opened the Sandywoods Gallery's doors to the public in May. In the months since, they have built a solid exhibition track record of the highest quality. Favorable press reviews and well-attended opening receptions both attest to the fact that the Sandywoods Gallery is an exciting and most welcome addition to the South Coast Area's lively arts scene.
The co-op is pleased to announce that, having laid a solid foundation this past year, it is now ready to accept new members.
All interested visual artists are encouraged to apply by visiting this site and following the posted instructions.
We define the term "visual art" quite broadly, to include all 2-D and 3-D media, e.g. painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, found object assemblage, installation art, video art, quilting, weaving, jewelry, furniture, ceramics, glass art, and mixed media.
Annual dues are currently set at $100.00. Co-op members are required to share equally in co-op tasks and duties, including gallery sitting and committee service.
Applications from prospective members will be accepted through December 31st. In January, the current membership will review all submitted work samples and select which artists to meet with for further consideration.
If you haven't yet had an opportunity to visit us at 63 Muse Way, please do so! Regular gallery hours are 12-5 pm Thursday through Sunday.
